Frequently asked questions
Answers about Amazon data coverage, MCP setup, supported AI clients, OAuth, tokens, Credits, billing and troubleshooting with Datrace.
What is Datrace?
Datrace provides Amazon marketplace data to AI assistants and agents through MCP. Use it to obtain data for market analysis, product and keyword research, traffic diagnosis, and competitor analysis.
About DatraceWho develops Datrace?
Datrace is developed by a Hong Kong-based team with product-management and data-software experience. Our focus is Amazon market research and bringing relevant data into AI-assisted workflows.
About DatraceWhat data can I query?
The tool documentation covers ASIN information and performance, keywords, rankings and traffic, advertising signals, and category insights. Open a tool's details to check its parameters, returned fields, and query constraints.
Explore the documentationWhere does the market data come from?
The research draws on Amazon marketplace information, observed search results, and Amazon Brand Analytics reports. Some metrics are derived or estimated. Check each tool’s definitions, dates, and scope rather than assuming every returned indicator is a directly observed value.
Explore the toolsWhat product information is available for an ASIN?
The basic-information tool returns title, image, price, currency, rating, review count, and a product link. Separate tools cover variation relationships, BSR, information changes, order trends, and reverse keywords. Choose the tool that matches your task and check its input limits.
ASIN toolsWhat can I learn about a keyword?
You can query search demand, ABA ranking, CPC, competitive ASINs, and click or conversion shares where documented. Trend tools support historical comparisons. Advertising replay has separate marketplace and time limits. Read the field definitions before comparing indicators.
Keyword toolsCan I research hourly rankings or historical traffic?
The catalog includes hourly ranking for a selected date and daily, weekly, or monthly traffic tools. A tool supports a specific date range and position types; availability depends on its documented constraints and data coverage. Specify the reporting period and desired interval in your request.
Ranking and traffic toolsWhy do category queries use a resource ID?
First search for the target category, confirm its marketplace and category ID, and generate an insight resource. Related queries use that resource ID to refer to the selected category. Resource generation can take time and has its own credit rule. Follow the documented sequence and reuse the returned ID as directed.
Category insight toolsHow does Datrace work with my AI client?
MCP connects your client to Datrace's data tools. Datrace returns data; your AI client uses that data to answer your question. Client features and connection requirements vary, so follow the guide for your chosen client.
MCP connection guideHow do I start using Datrace?
Create a Datrace account, claim the Free plan, and follow the setup guide to authorize your AI client. Then ask a question that includes the marketplace, product or keyword, and time range you want to research.
View the Free planWhich AI clients can I connect?
The connection guide includes ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, VS Code, and other clients. Use the current instructions for your chosen client. Remote MCP support, authorization, and account requirements depend on that client and its version.
MCP connection guideWhat should I include in a research question?
Specify the Amazon marketplace, ASIN or keyword, category when relevant, reporting period, and comparison scope. ASINs can differ across marketplaces. Some tools require a resource ID, explicit dates, or a limited list of ASINs; use the tool’s input descriptions to complete the request.
Explore the toolsHow do OAuth and manual tokens differ?
OAuth authorizes a client through the browser; manual tokens are configured according to the client’s supported authentication method. Manage both in the Console’s connections page. Choose the method described by the client guide, and keep token values private.
Open the ConsoleWhich marketplaces and time ranges are supported?
Coverage and available periods vary by tool. Check the tool's input descriptions and constraints, and specify the marketplace and reporting period in your question. A tool's availability does not guarantee data for every product or period.
Check tool coverageHow are Credits charged?
Credit use depends on the tool and the amount of data queried or returned. Check the corresponding billing rule before querying. Billing records can appear after a delay; the Console shows recorded usage.
Credits and billing rulesDoes the Free plan include my AI client’s subscription?
Datrace’s plan provides the Datrace credits described on the plans page. Your AI client manages its own features, subscriptions, and costs. Review both services’ requirements; there is no fixed conversion between a credit balance and the number of analyses you can run.
View the Free planWhere can I manage connections and usage?
Use the Console to view recorded Credits and manage OAuth connections or manual tokens. Revoke a connection or delete a token when you no longer need it.
Open the ConsoleWhat should I check if the client cannot connect?
Check the MCP address against the connection guide, client support for remote MCP and authentication, account activation and remaining credits, and the connection status in the Console. Reauthorize an expired or revoked connection. If it persists, send the client name, time, and error message to support.
MCP connection guideWhat should I check when a query returns no data?
Check the marketplace, ASIN or keyword, reporting period, and required parameters. Review the tool's documented constraints. If the problem persists, send the tool name, query parameters, time, and error message to support@datrace.com; keep passwords and tokens private.
Where can I find product changes?
The changelog lists published product and documentation updates. When a parameter, returned field, or billing rule matters to your workflow, check the current tool documentation as well as the changelog.
